Review Finds HA Fillers Improve Skin Radiance

A recent review of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) looked at how hyaluronic acid (HA) affects skin quality. The review found that HA injections significantly improved skin hydration and radiance, thanks to its ability to bind water molecules and potentially to stimulate fibroblast activity. HA had no significant improvement on skin elasticity, which is more directly influenced by collagen and elastin production. There was no significant reduction in melanin index.

Overall, the review concluded that HA-based treatments are effective for boosting skin hydration and radiance but have limited effects on elasticity and pigmentation. Researchers suggest the need for further research to standardize HA treatment protocols and to assess its long-term effects.
