Important Updates to AAD’s Acne Guidelines

The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) released its “Guidelines of care for the management of acne vulgaris,” published online February 15 in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.1“The Academy is dedicated to promoting and encouraging dermatology research and the application of these findings to improving patient care. This includes the development of rigorous, evidence-based guidelines of care for dermatologic conditions,” says guidelines’ workgroup cochair Andrea L. Zaenglein, M.D., professor of dermatology and pediatric dermatology at PennState Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Penn.“Our goal is to revisit the data at least every five years … to review any new evidence that could affect the guideline’s recommendations.
